Dear Futurescool,
My name is Kofi Oduro, and I am a Creative coder and Creative/Experientia storyteller with a strong focus on merging data-driven insights with creative expression to deliver unique, interactive experiences. My diverse skill set includes data visualization, data sonification, creative coding & writing and using code to craft narratives that foster discussion and reflection.
With over a decade of experience in performance, creative writing, audiovisual production, and experiential programming, I am adept at integrating data science, technology, and artistic practices. My academic background includes a Master’s degree in Applied Design with a focus on Interaction and Multisensory Design, and a B.Sc. in Computer Science. Additionally, I completed the DS4A fellowship, where I earned an honors certificate in Data Science, fine-tuning my ability to leverage computing techniques to enhance the learning and output of students. The latter of which was fine-tuned by joining a fellowship for creative producers sponsored by Ars Electronica to developed the process of computing towards clients and students alike, joining the Board of Directors of the IFTF (Interactive Fiction Technology Foundation) and spending time with the CSTA (Computer Science Teacher Association) to enhance my teaching capabilities
As a practitioner of new media ,multimedia and programming, I have been honing my skills both through learning and executing. From being involved in the NFB ONF/XP Program as a participant learning some of the animation and VR techniques from NFB Contributors, Exchanging knowledge and networking in Accra during the Chale Wote Festival that is the largest street festival in Western Africa. At the Chale Wote Festival, I took on the role of showing how open source technology can merge with the workings of local artists, creatives and technologists and tie it together to themes of afrofuturism through another lens.
One notable project that embodies this philosophy is the award-winning “Chatty Bench Project,” showcased my ability to utilize open-source computing technologies to engage local communities through the lens of community engagement, research and experiential design. Additionally, my project “Colorscape” transformed data about visual culture and food into an interactive, multisensory experience, reflecting my commitment to innovative design for others to consume and interact. These projects demonstrate my ability to integrate the concepts of fine arts alongside experiential design to create forward thinking outcomes.
My approach to teaching & curriculum design is rooted in experimentation and community-focused innovation. I have shared these insights through guest lectures at institutions such as VCU, Toronto Metropolitan University, and OCAD, where I guest lectured on topics including but not limited: data sonification, creative coding, experimental writing and the intersection of AI and art. My contributions to these fields have been recognized with awards such as the 2023 Media Architecture Award for Chatty Bench, 2021 DH awards for fun, 2025 Best Vibes paper by sigbovik and the IIB Awards Longlist for Unusual Data Visualization for “Colorscape.”
With Futrescool’s commitment to innovation resonates with my passion for combining creative output and problem-solving through a multidisciplinary lens, I am eager to bring my unique perspective to your team and contribute to projects that push the boundaries of how data can inform design.
Thank you for considering my application. I am looking forward to discussing how my skills and experiences align with Futurescool’s mission for the next generation. Please find my CV, and portfolio attached for further reference.

Kofi Oduro
